Ghostwriting & Contract Writing

If you own a business, you know that your most valuable asset is your list of clients and prospects.  Is yours getting a little stale?  Did you know that authoring a book can help you build your list and lead to new sales of your regular line of products?  It can!  Perhaps you want to tell your life's story, or that of your company or a beloved pet.  Maybe you've experienced a life-changing event that you feel could benefit others.  Sometimes a book is the best way to approach such topics.

But what if you're not a writer?

What you need is a ghostwriter.  A ghostwriter will interview you repeatedly to get your story, and meet regularly with you during the writing process.  Click here to find out what to expect when you work with a ghostwriter.

Sometimes the writer does more than just tell your story.  If there's additional research involved that's outside of your personal story, you should include the writer as a co-author or "as told to" author.  This is more properly called contract writing.

Based on my writing style in the Phone Book Roundup newsletter, I was asked by the editor of the McGraw-Hill Recycling Handbook to write a chapter on phone book recycling for the second edition.  You'll find it in the 2001 edition (ISBN 0-07-039156-4).

My first full-length co-authored book was released in late spring, 2005.  The allegedly true story was told by my client, from his point of view.  Due to this client's deceptive practices and lack of final payment for my work, I am no longer helping him to promote the book, although those who read my manuscript for it stated that it was a great book.

My second book, which was ghostwritten, was released in November, 2005.  Entitled Just a Dumb Kid From Nowhere, it's the story of my client's childhood in rural Mississippi during the Great Depression, and is a rip-roaring tale of adventure with numerous historical events throughout.  It's selling like hotcakes and getting great reviews!

I'm currently writing a series of e-books for other writers, each focusing on one specific aspect of planning for, establishing and running a successful writing business.  Entitled A Professional Writer's Ladder to Success, you can find more information about these books by clicking on the link to that page of this website in the menu at left.

If you're not willing to undertake writing your own story, I can write it for you.  Contact me to discuss your ideas.  I will work with you to determine the most effective way to tell your story.  My current fee for a book-writing consultation is $200, which is applicable to the retainer fee if you hire me to write your story.  I'll meet with you for up to three hours to discuss your idea, provide you with a written analysis of the idea's marketability, and give you a copy of my booklet, So, You Have A Story to Tell? Here's what you can expect when working with a professional writer.
