Author Services
Now that you've written the Great American Novel, or your life story, or a reference book, what do you do next?
There will be a number of services you'll need to get your book published and marketed. Here's a list of author services offered by Thompson Writing & Editing. Gold and Silver POW! members receive special discounts on all author services!
Editing
You'll greatly improve the chances of getting your manuscript accepted by a publisher or agent if you have it professionally edited before shopping it around. Click on the "Editing" link in the menu at left for a rundown of editing services available.
Book Cover Copy
You'll need a marketing blurb and author bio for the cover of your book, along with a brief book marketing statement. If it's being published in hardback, you'll also need copy for the inside front cover flap. I've successfully written these before, and can help you with yours.
Review
Has anyone read your book and written a review of it? You'll need reviews for marketing purposes. This is very time-consuming, so it's not inexpensive, but I do write book reviews. Call or e-mail for more information.
Press Kit
You'll need a press kit to sent out to media personalities who will be interviewing you. It will need to include a marketing sheet about your book, your bio, an excerpt, a Q&A sheet, and possibly a press release or review. Call or e-mail and ask about the Press Kit Package.
Press Release
Maybe you're going to be holding an event to launch your new book, or you've reached a sales milestone, or have won an award. You need to send out a press release about it so everyone will know and want to buy your book! I've written countless press releases that have gotten results and can do the same for you. Call or e-mail for details.
Book Marketing Materials
When you're out and about around town, you'll want to be handing out post cards, bookmarks, business cards, etc. to promote your book. You should be leaving them everywhere you go, from the time you have your book's cover design and ISBN in hand until you're finished with selling it. I've written copy for these before, and can help you with yours. Copy only, or layout and design packages are available.
Website Content
In today's world, you can't effectively sell a book without a website. I wrote all the copy for this website, and can help you with your book's site. Includes copywriting only, no layout or HTML coding (but I can work with your website designer on that). Initial website copy and or updating of existing copy.
Special Events
If you need someone to coordinate your book launch party or other event, I can do this, too. Hourly rate charged for planning, preparation and execution time for the event. Other contractors, such as caterers, bartenders, equipment and facility rental, etc. are contracted separately and must be paid in addition to my fees for managing the event.
