A Client Farewell
December, 2008
This was our last issue as editor of North Florida Doctor magazine, and Lynn worked minimally on it, with the majority of the work handled by Beson4 Media Group's new full-time editor, Dawn Josephson. We wish Dawn the best in her new position, and thank AJ and the staff at Beson 4 for an interesting year!
November Issue

The November issue of North Florida Doctor magazine is out! The cover story, "Engarde!" is about doctors who get their workout through fencing. Other articles include "Moving Toward EMRs" and "Online Medical Advice."
Southern Women's Show

If you stopped by the POW! booth at Jacksonville's Southern Women's Show, you may have seen Lynn there talking to folks about her e-book series, A Professional Writer's Ladder to Success. CD versions of the eight "rungs" of the series currently available were also being sold.
Breast Cancer Issue

The October issue of North Florida Doctor magazine Lynn edited is out! The issue is primarily focused on breast cancer. In the cover story, Dr. Shahla Masood is profiled. Other articles in the issue included "Men With Breast Cancer," "Role Reversal," about two doctors who themselves faced a diagnosis of breast cancer, "Storm Doctor," a profile of a doctor who chases tornadoes for a hobby, "Election 2008" on issues to consider in next month's presidential election, and "Protect Yourself" about medical liability insurance for doctors.
Prostate Cancer Issue

The September issue of North Florida Doctor magazine Lynn edited is out! On the cover are father and son Doctors Ahmad and Ali Kasraeian, who just started practicing urology together when the son joined his father's practice. Dr. Louis Gregory is a physician who is also a survivor of prostate cancer. There's a profile of Flagler Hospital President & CEO Joe Gordy, and a story on local doctors who enjoy extreme sports: kite boarding, rock climbing, and competitive weight lifting. In the Administrator's Corner is Mark Masters of Jacksonville Heart Center.

Lynn spoke to the Professional Women's Council of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday. Her subject was "Grammar Matters" and she provided handouts with some humorous examples of grammatical errors that caused embarrassment for businesses or government agencies, along with tips for avoiding them.
Automotive Issue

The August issue of North Florida Doctor magazine Lynn edited is out! The annual automotive issue features a cover story about local doctors who love their classic cars, including Dr. Christopher Roberts, pictured with several of his! The automotive section also features a story on the Moody Museum in Ponte Vedra, and another on some gas-sipping luxury cars driven by local doctors. Another story profiles Duval County's medical magnet school program, which starts preparing students for medical careers at the middle school level. The Doctors At Home features Doctors Al and Kae Harding in their lovely Avondale home.
Boating Issue

The July issue of North Florida Doctor magazine Lynn edited is out! The annual boating issue features a cover story about the lure of wooden boats, from local doctors who enjoy owning them to one who's building his own, and you'll read of an annual trip in wooden boats up the St. Johns River that draws participants from all over North America. There's a story on communities where you can live close to your boat, and suggestions on boat names for various types of medical specialists. A medical business article discusses the rise of critical care clinics. The restaurant review covers The Bridge Market & Bistro in Palm Valley. We examine the medical team that supports the Jacksonville Axemen rugby league team, and explore how doctors are adapting to Medicare changes that took place July 1. It's a big issue, not to be missed!

The June issue of North Florida Doctor magazine Lynn edited is out! On the cover is Dr. David Heekin, and the story on him explains how his upbringing and impressive military background provide the foundation for the principles by which he practices medicine. You'll also meet two doctors who compete in triathlons. Part two of the series on marketing your practice talks about defining and reaching your target market, while another story discusses the move to EMRs and another explores new technologies in imaging and treatment in the specialty of oncology.

The May issue of North Florida Doctor magazine Lynn edited is out! The cover story highlights the campaign to brand Jacksonville as America's Health Center and explains how area medical institutions are rallying behind it. The Doctors At Home article shows you a little touch of Italy in Glen Kernan at Doctor Joe Hartigan's, while the travel article explores this year's most popular vacation destinations. And the latest in the series introducing you to leaders of area hospitals features Shands Jacksonville's dual executives.
Much Ado About Books

Lynn was interviewed by Caryn Day-Suarez on The POW! Show recently during Much Ado About Books in Jacksonville. Another of the interviewees during that session was children's author R.L. Stine (of Goosebumps fame)! Watch Lynn's interview at left, in which she talks about her e-book series A Professional Writer's Ladder to Success and the book released last fall by ghostwriting client Joe Abb Overby entitled Just A Dumb Kid From Nowhere.
POW! Nuts & Bolts Conference

Lynn presented a workshop entitled "The Nuts and Bolts of Starting a Writing Business" at the POW! Nuts and Bolts Conference, and exhibited about her editing services and her e-book series, A Professional Writer's Ladder to Success.

Congratulations to editing client Li Sam, who is now producing a series of cards based on her poetry! Li is Swedish, but speaks perfect British English and writes to help others going through a very difficult transition through which she has also gone. Her cards are intended to help them explain the situation to friends and family, who "say they understand, but they don't really; they just think you're going through a phase."
Speech to POW! Group

Lynn spoke at the POW! monthly meeting on February 2. Her topic was "Why You Need to be Speaking and Networking." Around a dozen members came to hear the presentation. Many also took home a free copy of one of Lynn's booklets with information on grammar, contracts, and business protection. Many thanks to Ron Peters for the photo at left.

Lynn is pleased to welcome back Barbes Publishing as a client! She has written many articles for the company in the past, and is assuming a position as interim editor of North Florida Doctor and Central Florida Doctor magazines, starting with the February, 2008 issues. Many exciting changes are in the works for the year.
