Thinking about writing a book?
Wait!

Don't go any farther until  you have a
marketing plan in place for that book!

It’s one thing to have a great book idea…but would that book sell?

What do you want it to do for you?

Would it help promote your business, or boost your career?

Is there any demand for your idea?

How can you turn your idea into something that will market you?

What steps do you take to make your idea a finished book?

How will you break even or make a profit on it?

These are all great questions to ask.

They are also questions to which you should have the answers before launching a book project. It’s a difficult and sometimes daunting task to write and market a book. Not to mention a book is a very significant investment of both time and money.

What you need is a Book Marketing Plan. A roadmap to determine whether the best way for you to move forward with it. Or perhaps make some refinements before proceeding.

Thompson Writing & Editing offers three options for this:

The Build-It-Yourself Book Selling Roadmap is a structured, self-paced program of 20 modules you work through yourself to research and write your own book marketing plan.

This is based on the program Lynn has used with her editing clients for well over a decade, developed and refined as she learned about their needs and the areas where they needed the most help.

$499, available soon.

The Built-With-You Book Selling Blueprint Lab is a structured, weekly, guided group program to research and write a marketing plan for your book.

Each week, you'll be given a module to research with worksheets to help you learn what you need to know and develop your own plan around that knowledge. Each Thursday at noon, you'll meet virtually with Lynn and others going through this journey to discuss what you found and how you're going to use it. At the end of 20 weeks, you'll have your book's full marketing plan.

First one begins October 1, 2026! $995, payable in five monthly installments of $199. Or, get a $100 discount by paying up front for $895.

The Concierge Book Marketing Plan is a done-for-you version, in which you meet virtually with Lynn, then she gets to work researching and writing your book's marketing plan.

You don't lift a finger: Lynn does all the work for you!

$2,000 gets you a book marketing plan in about 30 days. A $1,000 retainer gets your virtual meeting set up, then you pay the remainder when the plan is complete.

All three help you gain clarity on...

  • The purpose and goals of your book

  • The ideal target audiences for your book

  • The wholesale buyers for your book

  • Competition for your book

  • What your book is about, summarized briefly

  • Potential bulk book sales channels for your book

  • Marketing opportunities at events

  • Ideas for promoting your book virtually

  • The most effective traditional and digital media you can use to reach your target audience

  • Profitable opportunities for ancillary products sold with your book

  • Subsidiary rights you could sell

  • Potential publishers for your book

  • A cost breakdown of each step in your book project (Writing, Editing, Publishing, and Marketing)

  • A schedule of marketing activities with start and completion dates

  • The steps needed to turn your book from an idea to a reality

Make a smart investment in your future success!
